   Heat 1 cup of water in a non-stick pan, add sugar and stir until dissolved. Add 1/4 teaspoon of green cardamom powder and cook until you have a syrup.

   Place the flour in a bowl and add 1/4 teaspoon of green cardamom powder, mixing well. Pour in the sugar syrup and knead until you have a stiff dough.

   Divide the dough into lemon-sized portions and roll into balls.

   Flatten each ball slightly and roll into thick rotis. The edges may crack slightly, which is normal.

   Roast the rotis on a non-stick tawa over low heat to avoid burning. Once the bottom side turns golden, flip and drizzle with oil, then cook until both sides are evenly golden and cooked through.
