Soak lasagna noodles in hot water for about 20 minutes until they reach an al dente texture, following package directions but being careful not to overcook them.

Prepare all ingredients: chop the onion, mince the garlic, thinly slice the basil, and finely chop the parsley after washing thoroughly.

Heat olive oil in a pan, add ground beef and break it apart using a meat masher or chopper, cooking until browned.

Add additional olive oil, quickly cook the minced garlic for about 30 seconds, then cook the onion for about 1 minute, and combine everything together.

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and chicken broth, reduce heat to low and simmer for about 20 minutes.

Prepare the ricotta mixture: beat an egg and combine thoroughly with the ricotta cheese—the egg acts as a binder to keep the mixture firm during baking.

Return to the meat sauce, add dried oregano, tomato paste, basil, and half the parsley, season with black pepper, stir in Parmesan cheese and simmer for 1-2 minutes.

Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of the baking pan, arrange soaked noodles, then layer meat sauce, ricotta mixture, and a combination of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

Repeat step 8 two more times, ensuring even spreading of each layer, with the final layer using remaining noodles, all remaining meat sauce, the rest of the parsley, and generous amounts of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (about 176°C), place the assembled lasagna in the oven and bake for 30 minutes. For a crispier cheese top, you can broil briefly if desired.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
