Gently coat the salmon fillets with freshly grated garlic (optional), olive oil, and a splash of lemon juice; massage from the skin side.

Prepare the spice mix by combining salt, heaped sweet paprika, dried thyme, brown sugar, and freshly ground black pepper.

Generously apply the spice mix to the oiled side of the salmon fillets and press gently to adhere.

Slice small waxy potatoes with the skin on to approximately 5mm thickness, ensuring even thickness for uniform cooking.

Place potato slices in a bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and toss with salt, black pepper, and sweet paprika (optional).

Place seasoned potatoes in the air fryer basket, distributing evenly for proper air circulation; set to 180°C for approximately 18 minutes.

Place the seasoned salmon on top of the potatoes with the spice side facing up; set to 230°C for 7 minutes using the grill function for crispy exterior and juicy interior.

Synchronize both baskets so the potatoes start first and the salmon basket automatically activates later, ensuring both finish at the same time. Shake the potatoes halfway through cooking.

Wait for the air fryer to complete. Check that the salmon is golden and crispy on the outside, and the potatoes are golden and crispy.
