Alternate chicken and green onion pieces on skewers to assemble the yakitori.

Make the yakitori sauce by combining 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 2 tablespoons mirin, 1 tablespoon sugar, and 2 teaspoons oil in a bowl, stirring well.

Let the yakitori sit in the sauce for 10 minutes, repeating this process several times until the sauce is well absorbed.
