Classic Creamy Cucumber Salad

   Wash the cucumbers and slice them thinly. Place the sliced cucumbers in a bowl, sprinkle with salt, and mix well. Let sit for about 30 minutes to allow the cucumbers to release their water.

   While the cucumbers rest, finely dice the onion into small pieces. The onion adds depth and umami to the dressing.

   Chop the fresh dill generously.

   Prepare the dressing by combining 150g sour cream and 150g schmand in a bowl. Add the chopped dill, diced onion, 1 to 1.5 teaspoons sugar, and 3 tablespoons vinegar. Stir well to combine. Do not add salt yet since the cucumbers are already salted.
