Cut the unsalted butter into pieces and melt over medium heat. Stir continuously until the butter turns a golden brown color and releases a nutty aroma. Be careful not to let it get too dark or burn. Remove from heat as soon as it reaches the desired golden brown stage.

Pour the browned butter into a heat-proof bowl and let it cool for about 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large bowl, combine powdered sugar, almond flour, all-purpose flour, and a generous pinch of salt. Whisk together to combine and break apart any lumps in the almond flour.

Separate the eggs and add 4 egg whites to the dry ingredients. Add the cooled browned butter and vanilla extract, making sure to include all the caramelized milk solids.

Whisk all ingredients together until combined into a thick batter. The batter can be made up to 3 days in advance and stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator.

Lightly brush softened butter into mini muffin tins or financier molds.

Using a piping bag, distribute the batter evenly among the prepared molds, yielding approximately 24 financiers.

Optional: decorate the financiers as desired—leave plain, top with sliced almonds, or place a raspberry in the center and gently press down.
