   In a bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, yeast, and baking powder, and mix them together well.

   Gradually add the lukewarm water, stirring with a spoon first so the dough isn't too wet and sticky — add the water little by little rather than all at once.

   Knead the dough by hand for about 5 minutes until it comes together, then cover and let it rest for about 30 minutes.

   After the dough has rested, divide it into about 6 to 8 equal portions and roll each into a small ball.

   Heat a shallow layer of oil in a pan over medium heat for about 2 to 3 minutes, then add the flattened dough and shallow-fry each side for about 1 to 2 minutes until golden.
