1
Add the bread slices to a blender jar.
2
Add the rava (semolina) and yogurt, then blend into a smooth batter.
3
Transfer the batter to a large bowl and mix in the finely chopped vegetables.
4
Add salt and mix well, then finally add the baking soda and gently mix it in.
5
To make the appam, heat an appam pan, grease each mold cavity with a little oil, and pour in the batter.
6
Cover and cook on low-medium heat for about 4 minutes until well cooked.
7
Flip and cook until both sides are golden and crispy — the bread appam is now crispy outside and soft inside.
8
Serve with chutney or tomato ketchup.
9
To make the bun dosa, use the same batter — heat a small pan or kadai and add a little oil.
10
Pour in the batter without spreading it too thin, so the dosa stays thick and fluffy.
11
Cover and cook on low heat for about 2 minutes until set.
12
Gently flip and roast both sides until done — the soft, fluffy bread bun dosa is ready.
13
From a single batter, you get two distinct Indian-style breakfasts: crispy bread appam and fluffy bun dosa — serve with chutney, sambar, or tomato ketchup.
