Finely mince the onion so it blends well into the sauce later.
2
In a heatproof bowl, combine the ground meat, sugar, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, sake, and grated garlic. Add the canned whole tomatoes, crushing them as you mix everything together.
3
Add the minced onion and mix again.
4
Loosely cover the bowl with plastic wrap, leaving a small gap for steam to escape, and microwave at 600W for about 6 minutes.
5
Carefully remove the wrap (it will be hot) and stir the sauce well; it will still be quite watery at this stage.
6
Without the wrap, microwave again at 600W for about 5 minutes to evaporate excess moisture. If it's still too watery, microwave a bit longer.
7
Line a baking tray with non-stick foil (or lightly oil regular foil), then arrange the gyoza wrappers on top, fitting as many as possible.
8
Spoon the prepared meat sauce onto each gyoza wrapper, as much as you like.
9
Top generously with shredded melting cheese, to your preferred amount.
10
Bake in a toaster oven at the highest setting for about 4 minutes, until the cheese melts and turns golden (if using a regular oven, bake at around 200°C until browned).
11
Sprinkle with dried parsley if desired and serve. Tabasco or black pepper also pair well.
