Pomegranate Tea (Seoklyu-cha)

   Select high-quality pomegranates with smooth, unblemished skin and vibrant red color. Wash and dry them thoroughly.

   Cut the pomegranate in half. Use a wooden spoon or similar blunt object to tap and knock the seeds out into a bowl. Continue until all seeds are removed.

   Pick out and discard any white membranes, keeping only the seeds. Repeat with the remaining pomegranate half.

   Place about 3 and a half cups of pomegranate seeds in a bowl. Crush the seeds with a pestle about 50 times to break the protective coating and release the juice.

   Add one cup of granulated sugar and mix well. The mixture should have a beautiful pink color.

   Transfer the mixture to a jar or container for storage. Keep refrigerated for up to one month.

   To prepare tea, place a spoonful of the pomegranate mixture in a cup and pour in hot water. Stir well and enjoy. The tea will have a natural pink color with a sweet and tangy flavor.
