Ingredients
raisins

dried plums (prunes)

tamarind

dried hibiscus flowers (Jamaica)

guavas

about 1/4 quantity
1 quarter
piloncillo (unrefined brown sugar)
adjust to taste
½ kg
water
as needed to fill pot
~3 liters

Steps

Fill a pot with water and heat until nearly boiling. Add half of the piloncillo, tamarind, cinnamon sticks, and hibiscus flowers.

Prepare the fruit: trim and quarter the tejocotes, trim and halve the guavas, and trim and halve the apples.

Gradually add the prepared fruit pieces to the boiling liquid, along with the raisins and dried plums.

Peel the sugarcane and cut it into stick-shaped pieces.

Add the sugarcane pieces to the pot. Continue boiling to fully cook all ingredients and allow the flavors to meld together.

Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more piloncillo if needed.

Serve once all the fruit is tender and the flavors have fully developed.
