Prepare all ingredients. Cut the beef into large cubes, chop the onions, and crush the garlic cloves with the flat of a knife before chopping.

Combine the beef with soy sauce and marinate for at least 30 minutes to infuse the meat with flavor.

Melt the margarine in a large pot and stir in the annatto powder until well combined.

Add the garlic to the oil and cook until fragrant, then add the onions and sauté until softened and lightly caramelized.

Add the marinated beef and continue cooking for 3 to 5 minutes until the outer surface browns lightly.

Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and sweet pickle relish. Optionally add beef powder for extra flavor.

Add the bay leaves and water, then simmer for 1 to 1.5 hours until the beef becomes tender. Alternatively, use a pressure cooker for about 20 minutes.

Add the liver spread. Optionally add peanut butter depending on regional preference for a richer taste.

Add the chopped Thai chili pepper and cheese, then continue cooking for about 5 minutes.

Taste the stew and season with salt and black pepper. To thicken, gradually add Japanese breadcrumbs and stir until the desired consistency is reached.
