Preheat the oven to 350°F.

In a large bowl, melt the semisweet chocolate chips and unsalted butter together. Use the microwave in 20-second bursts (about 2 minutes total) or a double boiler.

Add the Dutch processed cocoa powder and whisk slowly to prevent lumps from forming.

Add the granulated white sugar and light brown sugar, stirring gently to combine.

Add two large eggs and one egg yolk one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

Add the coffee and vanilla extract for depth of flavor. Whisk until the mixture is smooth.

Gently fold in the all-purpose flour and salt until just combined; do not overmix.

Reserve half a cup of the brownie batter for topping. Fold the chocolate chips into the remaining batter.

Prepare a 9-inch square baking pan by greasing it and lining with parchment paper. Pour in the brownie batter and smooth into an even layer.

For the cheesecake topping: Beat two 8 oz blocks of room-temperature cream cheese with granulated sugar and a pinch of salt on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth and creamy.

Scrape down the bowl, add vanilla extract, and mix until smooth and silky.

Transfer the reserved brownie batter to a bowl and add 1–2 tablespoons of hot water, stirring with a fork until it reaches a consistency similar to the cheesecake batter.

Once the brownie layer is done baking, pour the cheesecake mixture over the top and smooth into a thin layer with an offset spatula.

Dollop the thinned brownie batter over the cheesecake layer and use a skewer to swirl in different directions, creating a marbled pattern.
