Prepare the aromatics and lemon: slice 5 pieces of ginger, roughly chop 6 cloves of garlic, and peel the lemon zest with a vegetable peeler. Cut the lemon in half.

Rinse the chicken wings several times with cold water and pat dry. Place in a bowl and marinate with the garlic, ginger, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, rice wine, and crushed black pepper for 20–30 minutes, stirring to combine evenly.

Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the marinated chicken wings and pan-fry for about 4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown. Turn over and fry the other side until also golden brown.

Pour the remaining marinade liquid and lemon zest into the pan, then pour in the Coke. Cover with a lid and increase heat to medium-high to bring the liquid to a rolling boil.

Remove the lid and let the liquid reduce for 4–5 minutes until it reaches a thick, syrupy consistency. Add the lemon juice, stir the wings to coat them evenly with the sauce, and serve.
