Ingredients

Bring 2 litres of salted water to a boil. Add 300 g of penne and simmer for 5 minutes until partially cooked.

Heat 30 ml of olive oil in a pan and cook 550 g of minced beef until it changes colour.

Pour in 50 ml of wine and cook until it evaporates.

Add 1 chopped onion, allspice, and cinnamon stick, stirring to combine.

Add 250 g of milled tomatoes and 250 ml of water, and simmer for 20 minutes.

Season the meat sauce with salt and pepper.

Make the béchamel sauce: melt 50 g of butter and stir in 50 g of flour to form a roux.

Gradually add 500 ml of warm milk, stirring constantly to achieve a smooth sauce.

Season the béchamel with nutmeg, salt, and pepper.

Beat 1 egg and stir it into the béchamel sauce.

Drain the penne. In a baking tray, layer the pasta, then the meat sauce, and finally pour the béchamel sauce over the top.

Sprinkle grated cheese over the top.

Bake at 180°C for about 35 minutes until golden brown.
