1
Finely chop the onion and place it in a heat-resistant bowl.
2
Peel the carrot and finely chop it, then add it to the bowl with the onion.
3
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and microwave at 600W for 1 minute 30 seconds. Uncover, spread out, and let cool until warm.
4
Place breadcrumbs in a bowl, add milk, and mix well until the breadcrumbs are fully moistened.
5
In a separate bowl, mix together ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and sugar until the sugar dissolves completely, then add water and stir well.
6
Place the ground meat in a bowl, season with salt and pepper, and knead vigorously until sticky.
7
Add the soaked breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, and beaten egg to the meat, and mix thoroughly.
8
Add the cooled onion and carrot mixture and fold gently until well combined.
9
Coat your hands with a thin layer of oil, then roll the meat mixture into balls slightly larger than your desired final size, as the meat will shrink during cooking.
10
Pour the sauce mixture into a frying pan and heat over medium heat until it boils, stirring occasionally.
11
Once the sauce is boiling, reduce heat and carefully place the meatballs into the pot, being careful not to burn yourself.
12
Turn the heat back to medium and allow the meatballs to cook undisturbed until the side touching the sauce is set, about 3 minutes.
13
Gently flip the meatballs and continue cooking undisturbed for about 3 minutes.
14
Spoon the sauce over the meatballs and simmer for about 1 minute, then increase heat to medium and continue simmering for 1 to 3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the meatballs.
15
Check that the sauce has thickened and coats the meatballs evenly, then transfer to a serving dish and enjoy.
