1
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
3
In another large bowl, combine the granulated sugar and brown sugar.
4
Add the melted, slightly cooled butter and whisk for about 30 seconds until smooth.
5
Whisk in the eggs and vanilla extract for about a minute until the mixture thins out and combines fully.
6
Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and fold together with a spatula until almost combined, leaving a bit of flour visible.
7
Fold in most of the chocolate chips, reserving about a quarter cup to sprinkle on top later.
8
Line an 8x8-inch pan with parchment paper, then pour in the batter and smooth it into an even layer with a spatula.
9
Sprinkle the reserved chocolate chips over the top of the batter.
10
Bake for 50 to 55 minutes, until a skewer inserted in the center comes out with just a few crumbs and the edges are fully set. At the 30-minute mark, loosely tent with foil to prevent over-browning.
11
Let cool, optionally sprinkle with flaked sea salt, then remove from the pan, transfer to a cutting board, and cut into pieces to serve.
