Cardamom Chai Tea

   Gently crush the cardamom pods in a mortar and pestle to crack them open and release the seeds inside.

   Add 4 cups of cold or room temperature filtered water to a small saucepan.

   Add 4 tea bags, 2 whole star anise, and all of the crushed cardamom to the water.

   Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for about 5 minutes to extract all the flavors from the spices and tea.

   Combine 1 cup of whole milk and 1 cup of heavy cream in a separate container.

   Pour the milk and cream mixture into the saucepan with the tea and stir to combine.

   Bring the mixture back to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for about 10 minutes to thicken and allow all flavors to meld together.
