1
Select fresh garlic cloves and crush them thoroughly using the back of a knife or a mortar to release their flavour and beneficial compounds.
2
Take a fresh lemon and carefully peel away the outer skin, preserving the white pith underneath, then cut into slices or chunks.
3
For the cold version, place the crushed garlic and lemon pieces in a cup, add room-temperature or lukewarm water, cover, and let steep for at least an hour before drinking.
4
For the warm version, bring one cup of water to a boil, add the crushed garlic and peeled lemon pieces, and let simmer gently for a few minutes.
5
Remove the tea from heat and let it cool to a warm temperature. Optional: add a touch of organic honey if desired, but it is traditionally enjoyed plain to receive full benefits.
6
Best consumed in the morning on an empty stomach or before bed. Drink a freshly prepared portion in the morning and keep the remainder covered in the kitchen to warm up the next morning before serving.
