1
Crack four eggs into a mixing bowl and add 180g of sugar. Mix the eggs and sugar vigorously until well combined.
2
Pour in 115 ml of whole milk and mix everything together again.
3
Add 200g of flour and whisk vigorously to avoid lumps. You can sift the flour beforehand if desired.
4
Pour in 100g of melted butter and mix well until homogeneous. Add a pinch of salt and 7g (one packet) of baking powder, mixing thoroughly.
5
Melt 90g of dark chocolate in the microwave or in a bain-marie.
6
Divide the cake batter into two equal parts. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to one part and mix well. Pour the slightly cooled melted chocolate into the other part and mix until homogeneous.
7
Prepare a cake tin by greasing it well and flouring it to prevent the cake from sticking.
8
Alternately pour the vanilla batter and chocolate batter into the mold, creating a marbled pattern, until all the batter is used.
9
Roughly chop some pecans and scatter them over the surface of the cake. (You can substitute other nuts or omit them entirely.)
10
Bake the cake at 170°C for 1 hour.
11
Once the cake is out of the oven, let it cool slightly before removing it from the mold onto a wire rack.
12
Melt the milk chocolate and place it in a piping bag. Pipe it in thin streams over the top of the cooled cake.
