A beautiful sparkling cocktail that combines the spicy, flavorful ancho chile liqueur from Puebla with orange liqueur and mezcal or tequila, topped with sparkling wine. It's both refreshing and thrilling, with a perfect balance of spice and brightness.

Ingredients

Ancho Reyes (ancho chile liqueur)1¼ oz
Orange liqueursuch as Almainka (from the Yucatan) or Grand Marnier; any orange liqueur works~¾ ozest.
Mezcal or tequilapreferably from Puebla, such as Delamta Vita Puebla1 oz
Ice~1 cupest.
Sparkling winefill to about an inch to an inch and a half from the top; Mexican sparkling wine recommended but any will work3-4 oz
Orange slicefor garnish1
Gold luster dust (optional)for decoration only, adds no flavor~1 pinchest.

Pour 1.25 oz of Ancho Reyes into a mixing glass as the base spirit.

Add orange liqueur to bring floral notes and sweetness to the drink.

Add 1 oz of mezcal or tequila for added complexity and alcohol.

Fill the glass with ice and stir well to dilute and marry the flavors together.

Strain the mixture into a tall glass and top with 3–4 oz of sparkling wine, filling to about an inch or an inch and a half from the rim.

Garnish with an orange slice. Optionally add a pinch of gold luster dust for visual appeal.
